Trip Details
Dates: June 24–30, 2018
Tuition: $ 975 (airfare, not included ) Trip Description
Asummer adventure camp in Montana for preteen girls (aged 11 12 ). Outgoing and energetic, the girls of the Montana Lil’s camp are excited to find their inner adventurers!
This camp is an introduction to all the things girls would like, such as outdoor camp cooking, campfire building, daily yoga, Alpenolympic, games, roadside dance parties, camp skills, end of session award ceremony and, of course, making lots of new friends!
During this camp ,girls will have a blast outside, hiking, swimming and backpacking, while embracing their independence away from home, many for the
very first time. The goal is to get girls comfortable being at an overnight adventure camp, while packing their days with tons of fun activities! Trip Campsites Facilities
Three nights are spent in tent s in public “front country” campgrounds where
we have pre –assigned campsites with neighbors and campground hosts nearby,
running drinkable water, and private outhouses or flushing toilets.
Three nights are spent in tents in wilderness “ back country ” areas where we will purify our water before drinking and learn and practice basic “Leave No Trace” camping skills such as how to select a campsite, how to go to the bathroom, and how to keep clean outdoors. Why Choose This Trip
Montana Lil’s camp session is jus t for girls who are 11 and 12 years old! Attending this camp is a great way to introduce younger girls to the experience of outdoor living and backpacking, while still action packed with fun. Montana Lil’s will be challenged to experience new things, but will have tons of fun with a great group of girls and guides. 1. How long will the trip last?
A. 7 days.
B. 6 days.
C. 5 days.
D. 4 days. 2. What does the underlined words “b ack country” refer to? A. A country which lies in the back. B. A country area where many snakes exist. C. A country area where few people live. D. A country which has existed for a long time. 3. What can we know from the passage? A. The cost of the trip is $975, airfare included. B. The camp will take place in New York. C. Six nights are spent in tents in total. D. The trip will tour two national parks.

An organization called the Rhino Rescue Project caused a stir in South African conservationist circles this month when they announced that they had
treated the horns of several rhinos living on game reserves with poisonous
substances in order to discourage the poachers who are reducing the country ’s
wild rhino population. But will this measure solve the problem? I don ’t think so.
Lorinda Hern, a spokesperson for the Rhino Rescue Project, said that the poison they injected into the animals ’ horns, a mixture of ectoparasiticides (substances that kill small animals living on the surface of a host), was not lethal (致命的)to humans, but would cause unpleasant headaches. She suggested that this represents a long-lasting and cost-effective anti-poaching strategy.
Ihave several problems with it. For starters, I just can ’t agree to the idea of intentionally poisoning another human being. It ’s not too difficult to imagine innocent people getting hurt. Just think of a parent feeding “traditional medicine ” containing poisoned rhino horn powder to an innocent child, for instance.
And then there is the question about the animals themselves. The Rhino Rescue Project claims that the trials they conducted showed no harmful behavioral or environmental effects, but I can ’t imagine that they conducted these tests in a manner that is strict enough to prove this scientifically and conclusively. I tend to agree with the opinion expressed by the Endangered Wildlife Trust who responded that “if it makes people sick, it will surely make animals sick.”
There must be better strategies to protect the rhino. The way to stop people from buying rhino horn powder is to educate them, not to poison them. We need to tell them that the stuff has been scientifically shown to have no medical value whatsoever and that it is not a cure for cancer or any other human illness. 4. Why did the Rhino Rescue Project put poison into rhino horns? A. To poison the poachers. B. To drive away other animals. C. To scare away rhino horn hunters. D. To reply to conservationists ’ request. 5. What did Lorinda Hern say about the poison ? A. It is lethal to rhinos. B. It is quite expensive.
C. It is aimed at killing small animals.
